Early on Sunday morning, September 27, a Fairfield woman died in a single vehicle crash.
According to the Alabama State Troopers, the accident happened in the early morning at around 1 a.m. on the Interstate 65 in Cullman County at mile marker 299, two miles south of Dodge City. A 2007 Chevy Tahoe SUV being driven by 23 year old Gerald Tolbert of Birmingham left the roadway and then hit a culvert and overturned. His passenger, 26 year old Shequita Wallace, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene and another passenger, 23 year old Jasmine Woody of Birmingham was taken to a hospital in Huntsville with unknown injuries. She was also not wearing her seat belt. Tolbert was uninjured.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
